Keynote Speakers

The Rev. Dr. Gemechis D. Buba is currently serving as the director of African national ministries in the ELCA. Originally from Ethiopia, East Africa, Dr. Buba will address the convention about the critical need at this time to reach out with the word of Christ to North America. He brings a message of hope and encouragement that the Word of Christ, which brough faith to Africa, can now return to bring faith to those who originally sent it.

The Rev. Dr. Bruce Wilder is senior pastor at Faith Lutheran Church, Albuquerque, NM. Personal experiences in his youth transformed his commitment to Jesus in a way that profoundly guides his ministry. He will be speaking about the opportunity each Christian has to serve Christ's great commission by working together in faithful congregations reaching out with the message of salvation in Christ Jesus.

Sola Publishing	Come hear about WordAlone’s publishing ministry and see several new education resources that are “hot off the press.” Among its many publications, Sola has introduced an Early Sunday School Series for preschoolers/kindergartners, added to its VBS curriculum, and published an adult study on Lutheran themes in the Common Confession as well as a new Women’s & Men’s Group study for 2010. The combination of our national economic recession, and potential conflict because of the ELCA’s policy changes, means added stress on pastors and lay leaders. How can congregations continue, in the midst of all this, to focus on outreach and mission? Come and hear practical guidelines and strategies for mobilizing your congregation to be more effective in mission and outreach. Pastor Don Brandt serves Our Savior’s Lutheran in Salem, Oregon. If nothing is done to change the present cultural trajectory, a majority of our children will grow up (1) to have at least five sexual partners, (2) to be infected and/or infect someone else with a sexually transmitted disease, (3) to experience and/or commit sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment, (4) to cohabit, (5) to divorce, (6) to abort one or more children that they have conceived (near majority), (7) to propagate one or more children which grows up without a father, and (8) to delegate their children’s early childhood care to daycare centers.
