September 28-29 Cedar Falls, Iowa Sponsored by the CALL TO FAITHFULNESS organization of the NE Iowa synod, A CONFERENCE ON MATTERS OF FAITH — "GOD'S WORDS OR OURS?" will be held at the Nazereth Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7401 University Ave., Cedar Falls, IA 50613.

Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2008 with first session at 7:00 pm. The conference resumes Monday morning with Matins at 7:30am, Coffee around 8:00am, and the morning sessions at 8:30am, and continuing through til 3:00pm. Dr. Benne will give two presentations (one Sunday night, the other Monday morning) relating to How to Respond to the Sexuality Draft and How to Respond to the Direction of the ELCA, Roy Harrisville on the Book of Faith initiative, Erma Wolf on Lutheran CORE and working for reform, and Steve King sharing resources from Sola Publishing. There will also be a “Caucus of Leaders from Reform Groups and Synod Reform Teams” (if you come and are part of a reform group or team or want to be—you’re welcome to join us)—this will take place over the lunch hour—sharing ideas a nd questions about beginning and growing reform groups and teams within the ELCA. We end the gathering with a panel discussion. There will be tables set up with free copies and resources from Lutheran CORE, Call To Faithfulness, LC3, and Sola Publishing.

Registrations costs (lunch included):

  • Individual registration — $40.00
  • Congregational registration — $250.00 (covers as many from your congregation as you want to bring)
  • Become a Conference-sponsoring congregation — $500.00 or more
